CWB Accepts all Wheat, Durum & Barley offered under Series C

Date: March 9, 1998

Winnipeg - The CWB today announced that it has accepted 100 per cent of the wheat, durum and feed barley offered under 1997-98 Series C delivery contracts. The sign-up deadline for Series C delivery contracts was Friday, February 27, 1998.

Farmers have the opportunity to offer their grain for delivery under contracts four times during the crop year. The CWB announces the amount of grain it will accept under each contract after it assesses the amount of grain farmers have offered and the market demand for that grain. The CWB commits to call the accepted level for delivery by the end of the crop year. Farmers who still have grain to offer to the CWB have one remaining opportunity to do so. The sign-up deadline for Series D delivery contracts is Friday, May 29, 1998.

The CWB is one of the world's largest wheat and barley exporters, with annual sales revenues surpassing $6 billion. It markets Prairie-grown wheat and barley to over 70 countries around the world. As the farmers' single-desk marketing agency, the CWB returns all sales revenues, less the costs of marketing, to wheat and barley farmers in Western Canada.
